DESCRIPTION:Join local artist Christie Jones for a hands-on\, all-ages workshop exploring the connection between art\, nature\, and conservation. In partnership with Mastic Beach Conservancy and the Museum of Contemporary Art Long Island\, participants will learn how Christie transforms rocks and minerals into handmade watercolor pigments\, and each participant will create a painting with these handmade watercolors.\n\nLearn about oysters\, aquaculture\, and the important role they play in our coastal ecosystems. Discover why Christie brings art and conservation together in her creative practice.\n\nWhile you're at the workshop\, explore EARTH MOTHERS\, the museum's current exhibition featuring four artists\, including Christie Jones. The exhibition explores our relationship with the natural world and the ways artists can engage with environmental issues.\n\nAll ages welcome.\nNo experience required.\n\n\nFREE Come explore\, learn\, and create while discovering how art can help us connect with and care for our environment. This workshop is offered free to the public through Christie Jones Studio's 2026 L.O.C.A.L. Small Business Grant\, awarded by the Long Island Association and Optimum to Suffolk County recipients.
